The Prophet Daniel

This painting is based on Michelangelo's fresco of the Hebrew prophet Daniel from the Sistine Chapel ceiling. Michelangelo's blond-haired, Roman toga-wearing prophet (below) is indicative of how the Church had completely lost sight of its Jewish roots, well before the time of the Renaissance in Europe.
